As you can see I have not posted for a long time. I have only two reasons for that. One could be a lack of organization skills or disorder which I call: lost in doing. ;P I want to do too many things in a very short time. ;P I do not recommend it to anyone unless you possess super powers otherwise, you will never get rest.
OK. Now let’s see how this box came to life. ;)
I was looking forward to June since last year. The reason for that was my niece – and my goddaughter. Over two weeks ago her First Communion took place and for that occasion, the Treasury Box was created. The Fist Communion is a special occasion which Catholics celebrate in a very beautiful way. Unfortunately for most of the children especially in today’s generation, First Communion is a beautiful white dress or nice suit and lots of cool presents and money. Thank God that in later years some of us discovered the power of this amazing Sacrament.
A part of the celebration is that children receive presents.
In my time most of us would get a watch, calculator and in best case scenario scooter or bicycle. Now the kids get the newest smartphones, iPads, Laptops, PlayStation and dozens of things I don’t even know exist. ;P
What I was looking for Amelia was something that wouldn’t be out of date in few months or a year’s time.
I think many adults sometimes go back with their memories to childhood. Maybe boys think about their favorite Matchbox car and girls about the cuddly toy, but unfortunately, those treasures get lost during the years. The first curl or the bracelet from the hospital with the baby’s name written on it is also sometimes collected by the mothers, but often get lost during moving or cleaning. So there are endless, small, cute things that parents collect from the first day of a child’s life.
So yeah. Basically, I thought it would be awesome to sit with Amelia in 10 – 20 years time and go through her childhood ‘souvenirs’. So that is why I decided to create a treasury box for her.
That’s the story behind this beautiful case. Believe me, her eyes were shining when she unwrapped the box and in only a few seconds she knew what she will store there. :)
At the lid you can see a Bible verse which says:
Trust in the Lord, and do good;
dwell in the land and befriend faithfulness.
Delight yourself in the Lord,
and he will give you the desires of your heart.
Inside the treasury box is another Bible verse which says:
But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength.
They will soar high on wings like eagles.
They will run and not grow weary.
They will walk and not faint.
Here you can see the 3D dove and the symbol of the Eucharist.
